ROLES
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES.

Our Women's Advisory Committee provides us with guidance from the outstanding women leaders of our partner projects. The members provide one another with mutual support, project analyses, program development and fundraising tools. WAC's guidance for the foundation is vital to our success because it is rooted in its members' intimate knowledge of the needs of the families and communities where they live as well as serve through their community service projects. The Committee also helps us plan and produce our public events, including fundraisers.

Salome Alvear

Ms. Alvear worked for many years as a cook for our Partner, Place of Hope, preparing breakfasts for needy elders in Cotacachi. Salome frequently takes responsibility for providing food for our events.

Rosita Cabezas

Ms. Cabezas is a former President of the Mojandita Curubí community and former President of the Mojandita Curubí Health Center. With an in-depth knowledge of her community’s healthcare needs, she manages our rural medical home visits to area elders who can not travel to the Health Center.

Martha Chavez

Ms. Chavez is the long-time staff nurse at the Mojandita Curubí Health Center. In addition, she is the nurse for our rural medical home visits to elders in and around Mojandita Curubí. Martha’s commitment to the health of the community members and her professional knowledge are invaluable to the Foundation’s work.

Yarina Flores

Ms. Flores is a nursing student and a member of the Kinray Hub team. She joined our medical/dental brigade to the Cuyabeno area of the Amazon rainforest to staff the patient intake process and to assist the doctors and dentists as needed.

Kaya Valencia

Ms. Valencia is the Secretary of the Wichana Foundation and a co-founder/leader of the Muyumi Kanki Kichwa Cultural Center.

Ms. Vinueza is the Wichana Director of Program Development.

Kasha Yarina Rojas Yamberla

Kasha Yarina Rojas Yamberla was instrumental in the development of our Imbabura Taytamamakuna Kawsay cultural project and coordinates and facilitates educational workshops in Cotacachi communities She is also the youngest member of the Wichana Foundation Board of Directors.

The Wichana Foundation has two channels for our work. The first is our support of our Partner organizations. Our support can include fundraising and administration of donations, technical advice, training and support, and project collaboration.
